Abstract

Hypertension is one of the vascular risk factors that is most closely related to cerebrovascular pathologies such as stroke, Myocardial Infarction, dementia and is currently one of the most common comorbids in covid 19 patients. is cupping. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness and mechanism of action of cupping in reducing the mean arterial pressure in hypertensive patients. This study used a quasy-experimental design with a pre-post test control group design approach. The study population was 40 patients with hypertension Posbindu PTM Wijaya Kusuma in Takombang Hamlet, Palbapang Village, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region Province. The number of respondents was 32 patients taken by simple random sampling technique. The instrument uses a blood pressure measuring device and cupping device. Data analysis used non-parametric Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests because the data were not normally distributed. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant decrease in the pre post value in the experimental group with a p-value of 0.001 and there was a significant difference in the delta value of the control and intervention groups with a p-value of 0.000. So it can be concluded that cupping is effective in reducing the Mean Arterial Pressure value in hypertensive patients.
