Perception of Patients with Fracture Bones on Non Pharmacological Therapy of Topu Bara

Abstract

Broken bones cause upsetting conditions that drive people to look for various treatments to recover to normal condition. Untreated fractures could cause enormous pain and lead to various complications including cancer, making people seek treatment both medical and alternative therapies. This research is a qualitative study using a descriptive phenomenological design which is aims to in-depth studying on how fractured patients perceive and prefer non-pharmacological therapy of Topu Bara in Negeri Waai, Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency. The number of participants to reach data saturation in this study were 6 people. The analysis in this study used selective analysis techniques and focusing which produced 4 themes: 1) Changes felt before treatment, 2) Confidence/trust in the treatment, 3) The process of undergoing treatment, 4) Results of the treatment. The conclusion of this study is Topu Bara is one of the alternative therapies people choose because it is believed to be more effective than medical treatment in healing fractures.
