Psychosocial Status is Associated with the Quality of Life for the Elderly
Abstract
Elderly is someone who has reached the age of 60 years who are marked by health problems as a result of the aging process. The purpose of this research was to know the relationship between psychosocial status and the quality oflife of the elderly in Blorok, Brangsong,Kendal. This research uses quantitative design, descriptive correlational research method with cross sectionalapproach. The sample in this research were elderly respondents aged 60 years and over with a total of 170 respondents, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Measuring instruments in the formof a questionnaire amounted totwo (psychosocial status and quality of lifeofthe elderly) with a test of 0,527-0,839 and its religious value of 0,929. The data analysis used the Spearmanrank correlation test. The results showed the age of respondents more Psychosocial status of the elderly with the majority of healthy psychosocial as many as 110 people (65.9%). Elderly with good quality of life as many as 123 people (72.4%). Spearman rank correlation test results indicate a relationship between psychosocial status with the qualityof life of the elderly with a p value of 0,000 (<0.05).
