Analysis of Mother and Child Characteristics with Development of Children Age 2-24 Months
Abstract
Child development is an important component of child care. The role of mothers is needed in supporting child development. The research objective was to determine the relationship between mother and child characteristics on the development of children aged 2-24 months. Non-experimental quantitative research with cross sectional study approach. The population in this study were all children aged 2-24 months in the Binanga, Bambu and Tampa Padang Health Center, Mamuju City. Sampling using accidental sampling, the number of samples was 96 people. Data collection using questionnaires and observations. Data analysis with simple logistic regression test followed by multivariate test with multiple logistic regression. The results showed a relationship between maternal characteristics: psychological (p=0.001), parenting (p=0.028) and stimulation (p=0.043) with the development of children aged 2-24 months. There is a relationship between children's characteristics: nutritional status (p=0.022) and the development of children aged 2-24 months. The dominant variable related to the development of children aged 2-24 months is maternal parenting (OR=3.062). In conclusion, the characteristics of mothers related to the development of children aged 2-24 months are stimulation, parenting, and maternal psychology. Characteristics of children associated with the development of children aged 2-24 months is nutritional status. The dominant characteristic affecting the development of children aged 2-24 months is maternal parenting.
