Effectiveness of Warm Water Foot-Soak Therapy and Reflection Massage on Blood Pressure in Elderly
Abstract
The prevalence of hypertension increased in line with age. Warm water foot-soak therapy and reflexology could reduce blood pressure. This study aimed to figure out the effectiveness of warm water foot-soak therapy and reflexology on blood pressure in the elderly. This research uses quasy experimental design with pretest and posttest group design. The population in this study were all elderly with hypertension and the samples taken were 15 people in each group. Data collection tools used blood pressure observation sheets before and after treatment. The statistical test used was paired samples t-test. The results showed that the reflexology group experienced a decrease in blood pressure higher than the therapy group soak the warm water foot with a P-value of 0.010 at systole pressure, while the diastole pressure decreased with a P-value of 0,000. Reflexology therapy is more effective than warm water foot-soak therapy on blood pressure in the elderly.
