Nurse Motivation in Applying Play Therapy in the Hospital

Abstract

Playing is a basic need of every child that must be fulfilled both when he is sick and healthy. Giving therapy to play at the Hospital has not been done optimally by the nurse on duty. Motivation of nurses is very influential on achieving optimal results in play therapy, one of which is motivation that comes from within the individual. The purpose of this study is to describe the nurse’s motivation in applying play therapy in the Dahlia Room of Dr. Hospital H. Soewondo Kendal. This research is quantitative research with a non-hypothetical explorative descriptive survey design. The sample technique used was purposive sampling, with a total sample of 18 nurse respndents in the Dahlia room of Dr. Hospital H. Soewondo Kendal. The results showed that the picture of nurses’ motivation in applying play therapy was mostly included in the medium motivation category with the percentage of each item namely, compensation (83,3%), working conditions (72,2%), interpersonal relations (50,0%), work procedures (50,0%), and supervision (50,0%).
