Abstract

Child abuse increases every year. Children as victims of violence regardless of how minor and severe the cases cause disruption in child development and trauma. Trauma in childhood also leads to the development of chronic trauma symptoms in adulthood such as depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The research objective was to analyze the factors between gender, forms of violence, frequency of violence, perpetrators of violence and PTSD in adolescent victim of violence. The population in this study were students who had been victims of violence in West Semarang State Junior High School on June- September 2020. The number of samples in this study were 46 people with PCLS score > 17 This research used quantitative methods with cross sectional approach. The data collection process was done by filling out the Post Traumatic Checklist Specific (PCLS) questionnaire. The results showed 65.2% of victims of violence were women, the frequency of violence was 1-2 times as much as 78.3%, most experienced psychological violence (54.3%), and the most perpetrators of violence were friends (65.2%). There was no relationship between gender, frequency of violence, forms of violence, perpetrators of violence and PTSD because the chi square test shows the p value > 0.05. The Conclusion that an incident of violence that befell a child becomes a traumatic experience regardless of whether the violence is dangerous or not. Children have the right to get protection from violence perpetrated by those around them, but the phenomenon is that children often get violence from those closest to them.
